Javier contacted me on Upwork, he invited me to take a look at a job he posted there. The task he pointed me towards was to 'Create a test on Google Docs to evaluate candidates for relevant roles'.

If appointed to the job my remit would be to create 100 questions on Google Docs. However, first I had to submit four sample questions on other subjects such as Gmail. My first batch of samples were evaluated and rejected as they required more scenario-based questions and answers - this makes it more difficult to find answers using a search engine or AI chatbots. I resubmitted the samples and got the contract.

I was appointed to work closely with Cassandra. First of all, as the Docs expert, I had to decide the four main skill areas. Each skill area had to be broken down into categories. I had to write a summary about Google Docs and what to expect from the test. Then it was a case of creating 25 questions for each skill area. These were to be in a multiple choice format so as well as writing the question I had to think of three incorrect choices as well as adding the right answer. There were many other criteria such as a certain number of questions required an image or diagram.

My questions were continually evaluated by Cassandra, and other TestGorilla employees, and returned to me to be corrected. The process was extremely thorough and tested my knowledge of Google Docs to the limit. I feel my knowledge of the product was stretched further as I had to delve into its deepest recesses.
